Son massanet

Location: Campanet

Area: 310 sqm

Typology: Renovation of single-family house between party walls

This renovation of a detached house in Campanet is an example of how the conservation of history and the integration of old elements can coexist with modernity and functionality in an architectural project.

We sought not only to improve the condition of the house, but also to preserve its history and original character. The aim is to create a more spacious and welcoming environment, allowing for greater interaction between the inhabitants of the house. By removing some elements and opening up the central wall with a large arch, natural light filters through the living room, connecting it to the outside and offering stunning views.

On the other hand, preserving the two existing staircases is not only a way to maintain the history of the house, but also to give it personality and uniqueness. Every detail in the renovation is important, and in this case, the stairs add a distinctive and different touch.

One of the biggest challenges is the recovery of the materiality of the façade. The existing openings were preserved, but the worthless elements of the courtyard were eliminated in order to clear it and give prominence to the façade.

An “infinity-pool” is incorporated into the courtyard to enjoy the impressive views towards the neighbouring village of Búger. This endless pool, known as an “infinity-pool” or “overflow pool”, is an aesthetic and functional solution that gives the sensation that the water merges with the horizon, creating a feeling of floating on the water without a visible edge.
